ICDD is a campus/community collaborative dedicated to improving the quality and frequency of civic discourse. By facilitating public dialogue and deliberation, the institute promotes community engagement and self-knowledge, a means of reinforcing citizenship and mutual learning across multiple sectors and interests. Models of civic discourse include many modes of conversation based on the arts and humanities, such as Visual Thinking Strategies and Socrates Café. Assistance is offered to community groups convening public conversations, and training is provided to youth and adults interested in developing facilitation skills and applications. (ICDD is a non for profit organization)
